Nadine and I have been planning this day for eight months ever since we met with our financial advisor and he said “go for it”. We met with Mike and he indicated that we should be able to enjoy our retirement with our pensions and his investing help. He crunched the numbers and we were sold. That was June 2017.
We had a busy time figuring out when to give our notices and set ourselves free. In September we spent two and a half weeks taking care of Adam and Rebecca’s children while they went to France and Amsterdam for their honeymoon, busy, busy, busy. We changed our plans to go to South Africa and Ethiopia in the fall and hope to go next year. We did get over to Bermuda and visited with Noah and Issac for five days in January before we quit work. It was great.
I started to leak my intentions to our management team members in July but didn’t make it official until October. Nadine gave her notice in November and then we started to plan for our future.
Our last official day at work was January 31, 2018.
